We are excited to announce the start of what we hope will be an extremely fulfilling long term relationship with Ripon Community Link, a local charity supporting adults and young people with learning disabilities across two sites in Ripon.
As a family owned organisation, our philosophy revolves around a set of core values, with community and sustainability taking centre stage. Our ties to our local community are further strengthened by the relationship we have developed with Ripon Community Link. It’s impossible not to be motivated by the work they do and the example they set!
Our concrete team were delighted to donate the concrete for a new greenhouse, with our Managing Director and Quarry Manager heading down with the delivery to help get the job done!
The members and volunteers at Ripon Community Link did a fantastic job helping to wheelbarrow and lay the concrete.
We want to encourage our customers and suppliers to support Ripon Community Link and their new minibus campaign in particular. The members have made an absolutely brilliant campaign poster to help raise awareness!
Hopefully our donation for £15,000 will give their campaign a great kick-start!
Victoria Ashley, Chief Executive at Ripon Community Link at Saint Wilfrid’s Bungalow & Ripon Walled Garden made the following comments regarding the importance the minibus has to Ripon Community Link
“We are extremely grateful to Lightwater Quarries and Concrete 4U for their donation of £15,000 towards our ‘Minibus Appeal’. Our minibuses are used on a daily basis by our Members, adults and young people with learning disabilities, and therefore play a vital role in ensuring we remain fully connected with our community. This donation has kick started our fundraising appeal, making the prospect of a much needed new minibus a distinct reality.
We are also grateful to Lightwater Quarries and Concrete 4U for their donation of a concrete base for our new greenhouse. The greenhouse was made possible by a grant from the Elspeth Thompson Bursary. This enables us to grow a wider variety of healthy plants, available to purchase by visitors to the Walled Garden, which in turn raises essential funds to help us develop and maintain the Charity’s long term service provision. Furthermore, we are extremely grateful for the company’s aggregate donation to help improve our pathways, making the garden more accessible for both our Members and the public”
Ripon Community Link Chair of Trustees Kathryn Harrison was also thrilled with the donation and hopes the up and coming golf day boosts the awareness of both the mini-bus campaign, Ripon Community Link and Ripon Walled Garden.
“We would like to thank Lightwater Quarries and Concrete 4U for their support, both helping to improve the Walled Garden facility, but also for their generous donation to our ‘Minibus Appeal’, which will help purchase a much needed new minibus for our Members. The Charity and Members have been fundraising, including a raffle, which along with this amazing donation and the forthcoming Charity Golf Day 10th July, hosted and arranged by Rudding Park on our behalf, will all help to realise a new minibus in the near future”
For anyone local who hasn’t visited the Walled Garden, we can’t encourage you enough to pop in and see the place for yourself. Whether just to enjoy the beautiful surroundings or treat yourself to a pot of coffee and slice of delicious homemade cake, we know you will definitely want to return. If you can make a donation to the new minibus, however small or large, even better!
