What is traditionally called hardcore when referring to aggregate is usually classed at Type 1 stone and is a material used for under roadways, driveways and new buildings normally because of its good compaction when placed. Hardcore is traditionally classed as a stone size from 40mm graded down to dust although hardcore in itself has no specification on grading MOT type 1 does thereby guaranteeing the quality of the material supplied and that it is fit for purpose.
